Oil Paintings from a local Coeur d'Alene artist - Avis Stafford

Artist Statement

I paint to bring my moments of happiness to life, to linger and to share.

I am most interested in painting images that ignite some emotion.  I want to communicate a feeling through visual imagery.  It starts with a snapshot – seeing a family of Canadian geese hanging out in my driveway or looking into the eyes of an elephant walking toward me.

There is something special about the animals that captivate my attention and I smile and enjoy painting them so much.  Also, landscape is always an interest of mine as I've been fortunate enough to travel significantly and I've seen beautiful scenes that I enjoy sharing through my art.

My goal is always to offer up an image that speaks to the tenderness of an animal or the beauty of the place from which they live.
